From Wikipedia….”A booster club is an organization that is formed to contribute money to an associated club, sports team, or organization. Booster clubs are popular in American schools at the high school and university level. The clubs are generally run and organized by the parents of the students in the supported organization in high schools, and by athletic supporters and fans at colleges. Fundraisers are often held to raise money for supplies or equipment that the students may need or for trips that the students may need to take. The main principle of funding by a U.S. IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit is that the booster club may not discriminate in making grants to youth or college students on the basis of their family's membership in or funding to the club, or the family's fund-raising or time put into club activities”.
Although the definition of a booster club is to raise money for the organization or team for supplies or equipment, we believe the main purpose of the booster club is to maximize the experience for the participants and to support and assist the director or coach.
The school or the district generally sets rules for booster clubs. You can find some sample guidelines here:

Booster clubs are generally organized by a democratic government with the board being composed of the:
President- Leads the meetings and keeps communication open with the director or coach.
Vice President- Acts for the president in absence and generally has one other major function, which is usually the fundraising chairperson.Treasurer- Keeps track of the budget and is the official responsible for making deposits and withdrawals. The treasurer usually reimburses for expenses via check signed by the treasurer and president.
Secretary- Keeps the minutes of the meetings and usually serves as the publicist.
Committee Chairs- Individuals leading each of the major functions such as a banquet, major fundraiser, spirit wear, equipment, etc.
Parliamentarian- Makes sure the meeting stays on track according to the agenda and that the rules of order are kept. Rules of order can be found at:

Bylaws are the rules or constitution of the club. They dictate how the booster club is run, how many officers, or board members there are, and what the function of each committee is. If you need to look at a sample in order to amend your existing bylaws or to create bylaws for a new club, you can obtain copies from other clubs in the school or just search for "booster club bylaws" on the internet. You can also download our sample of Booster Club Bylaws.
